Remembering Leonard Nimoy

November 15, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

In celebration of the Great American Smokeout and with our partners Trinity Health Systems, Smoke Free St. Joe presents Remembering Leonard Nimoy, a Julie Nimoy and David Knight Film.

Remembering Leonard Nimoy

Diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in 2013, Leonard Nimoy used his fame and extraordinary ability to connect with people. With this film, his legacy brings to light this common but often undiagnosed disease.

Bravely, Nimoy reached out to educate his fans, openly discussing this serious lung disease. It’s a powerful story shining the harsh light of reality onto the consequences of long-term smoking.

Like his iconic alter ego “Mr. Spock”, he initially endured his debilitating lung disease in stoic silence. He revealed his private pain only to movingly warn others of the dangers of smoking.

Even though over 30 million Americans are affected by COPD, awareness is still shockingly low. We are so thankful to Leonard Nimoy’s family for sharing his journey with COPD. Remembering Leonard Nimoy is their way to raise awareness for COPD, as well as his life & legacy.
